WHAT PEOPLE SAY
— Lyle Richards
"I have decided to delve in to Lean as much as possible so have started at minimum, using the last planner method. I have a job that is getting to the final stages and some trades just aren’t giving it 100% I don’t think and they were all saying they need more time etc. So, I called a meeting with all trades involved and held it at the job site. I made a calendar and brought out my sticky notes. Before they got there I placed an aggressive but not unachievable end date on the calendar for them to see when they got there. I knew we could hit it but needed them to get there themselves to really buy in. From a couple I got blank stares, folded arms and silence. Others gave me hard push back. I heard nothing but we need more time, that’s not possible, etc. So I asked them to humor me. We went through the remaining scope all together and then we started in on the calendar. Half way through you could see people coming together on it, everyone a bit more engaged. Blank stares had become eyes going back and forth with the conversation. Folded arms were now being moved around as conversation picked up and the we need more days turned in to we can do that."
